Harris previously raced with the Mosport Kart Club, and has an extensive karting background, racing both 4 stroke and 2 stroke karts. Starting at age 9, he has won a number of karting championships, most recently winning the 2008 OKRC Senior 4 stroke Championship. Harris has also participated in Bridgestone racing academy events and was selected to participate in the 2008 Volkswagen TDI cup selections. Harris won the rookie standings and finished fourth in overall standings in the 2009 Formula 1200 series season.
